Sunday Update

We met with the attending Ped this morning. Ben had another X-ray this a.m. and his intestines are looking much better now. He had 1 suppository over night and had 3 bowel movements. His blood work looked better today also. He will have another bacteria culture tomorrow and blood work again. He is slightly jaundiced today and this will be watched.
The good news is that the NG tube came out! He was able to enjoy a bottle this morning at 10 and again this p.m. at 1. He sucked down his allowed amount, burped well, and has only spit up a bit (which was normal in color/consistency/amount). He has had more bowel movements since the bottles, and Andy was the lucky poop changer again!
We will continue to feed him slightly more than an ounce every 3 hours. The plan is to keep this up as long as he isn't spitting up too much and/or his stomach is not becoming distended again. Until then he remains in the nursery for vital monitoring and for continued IV for extra fluids and antibiotics.
Tomorrow we will follow up with the new attending Ped for the daily testing, and I will also contact our own Ped for guidance and follow-up.
