On our way home from DC we stopped at a Safari Park.
Bill found a brochure for the place while we were at a rest stop.
It was only about 20 miles out of our way.....
So off we went!
We all piled into one van and made our way through.
We had 2 buckets of food to feed the animals.
They were not at all shy about coming to the window.
Or sticking their heads in to check us out.
We kept the sliding doors open on the van for a better view.
We had to close them a few times for fear of the animals joining us for a ride.
Abbie was not sure about the whole thing.
PETA probably wouldn't be too sure either.
I will say it was clean.

So these guys were so ugly they were cute.
The ostriches were not afraid to swing their long necks and head into the van.
They were kind of creepy actually.
Abbie was NOT a fan!
By the way, I love this picture.
Click on it to make it larger. Isn't he kind of cute?

The camels stunk.
At the end of our drive we saw a camel eating an empty plastic bucket.
As in, saw him swallow the whole thing.
Pretty sure PETA would have been all over that.
I'm still disturbed.
I hope he passed it alright.
I can't believe he didn't choke!

And the "buffalope."
Oh, the "buffalope," as Will called them.
They were ugly.
And swarmed with flies.
And scary.
This is a pic I took by shoving the camera up front and in the window.
I REFUSED to open the door and take a picture.
Bill left Paula's door open while she was busy snapping pics of other animals.
Within a minute a huge buffalo sauntered up to her side.
She screamed, almost ended up in my lap, Abbie cried, and the rest of us almost peed our pants.
Hilarious!

The ostrich WAS cute! But buffalo are really dangerous. There should have been a sign about that somewhere, because you definitely shouldn't have had your doors open around them. They gore people to death. When we were in South Dakota, our guide was totally adamant about staying away from the buffalo.
That zebra WAS really pretty...I've never noticed that before! Sounds like a cool place to visit, though I am disturbed by the bucket eating...
