Our conversation today:
Abbie: These hearts on my socks are for "valentime's" day. We have "valentime's" day at school. Did you know that? When is "Valentime's" Day?
Me: It's a long time away. In February.
A: Oh. Well I'm going to wear these on "Valentime's day." Do you know what kind of bag I'll have this year? (Referring to her treat bags from us and school)
M: Nope, don't know. It's still far away.
A: First is Halloween, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas, then is it "Valentime's Day?"
M: Yes.
A: Well when is Easter?
M: After St. Patrick's Day.
A: Remember when we colored eggs and it "stinked?" It was really stinky! (laughing) I wonder what was in those eggs? Do you remember? I think it was the stuff that's in them when you crack them. Remember when we found the eggs? I know where they'll be this year. Remember when you helped the Easter Bunny hide the eggs in the basement? What did the Easter Bunny look like? Was it bigger than me?
M: Yep bigger than you.
A: Is the Easter bunny a girl or boy? I don't know what kind of "people" the bunny is. Can you ask "her?" Do you know what "she" is? Maybe "she's" a girl. Did you talk to her? What did her voice sound like?
M: (Very overwhelmed at this point...seriously the flow of questions was constant) Um, I don't know. Just a voice. We didn't talk long.
A: Oh, was she shy mommy?
M: Yeah she was shy.
A: Sometimes I'm shy.
A: When I'm 5 I can go to kindergarten, can't I?
M: Yes.
A: And you know what else? Seth is 5 and he goes to kindergarten, AND he rides his bike with 2 wheels. When I'm five I can do that. How long until I'm 5?
M: On your birthday, May 5th, but it's a long time away.
A: After I'm 5, I'll be 6 and 7 and 8 and......(you get the drift here). One day I'll be big like you and I'll be the mom. I can drive you to the store. We'll both be moms! And Will will be a dad! Are you going to keep getting bigger?
M: Nope, not bigger. Just older.
A: I'm going to have lots of birthdays. One day I'll be twelve. I can't wait to be 5!
Really can I hit the pause button? I'm not ready for kindergarten and no training wheels. And one day she will be a mom. And she will drive me around. Tears, Tears, Tears! No longer a baby! Somebody, anybody, hit pause!
And this girl CAN talk non-stop!
I was barely able to answer her before she was on to the next question.

I'm almost crying reading this. How did she get so big?? At least you have the blog to remind you of these precious little moments!!
