This year Abbie did her Christmas shopping at school.
There was a "shop" set up at school for the students to buy gifts for everyone on their list.
First Abbie wanted to buy for her friends, Katy and Ruthy.
After I explained I would only give her money to shop for her family, she decided that was fine.
We made her list:
Nono & Nona, Papaw & Memaw, Will, Ben, Andy, and myself.
I sent her with $30 and thought it would be interesting and entertaining to see what she came up with.
Surprisingly, she did really well!
She had $5 left over AND bought a gift for her friend, Ethan.
Coincidentally, Ethan calls Abbie his girlfriend.
Abbie has been noncommittal, but the gift is telling.
I didn't get to see the gift because she had given it to Ethan on the way home from school.
Whitney, his mom, snuck it over so I could check it out!
I had to take a picture!
I asked her why she picked it and she said because Ethan likes cats and his favorite color is red.
Well, there you have it folks!
I should also mention it was the most expensive gift, at $3.
It also sang or meowed, I can't remember.
So, what did we get?
She couldn't wait to give us our gifts, so we opened them that night.
They were all quite thoughtful!
Nono got a snow globe with dolphins. I asked why dolphins, to which she told me she couldn't find pelicans. Pelicans are his favorite.
Nona got a Christmas snow globe to go with her Christmas decorations.
Memaw got a cat magnet, because Memaw has a cat.
Papaw got a lanyard with flames on it. She wanted him to use it for his Harley keys. He recently had flames painted on his Harley.
Ben received two toys. He got a caterpillar rattle and a stuffed duck, I think.
Will got two presents. He got slime and a smooshy ball, for lack of a better description.
Andy got a key chain that said 'Dad' and lit up. Fitting since Andy is always driving to work or meetings.
My gifts perhaps held some ulterior motives. She got me a pink princess pen. It lit up and had a fuzzy tiara on it.
I also got a snowflake necklace, which she conveniently wore the next day.
I was so proud of her thoughtfulness!
Well worth the $25 for a lesson in thinking of others.
