NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Screaming! Terrible, terrible top of the lungs screaming!
I came running, but no one was hurt.
Abbie and Will looked on in awe as Ben stood pointing.
I quickly grabbed the camera.
"Look what I did mom?"

It's Rex, our elf, on the floor!
If you remember, each night before Christmas, Rex would magically fly to the North Pole to report to Santa.
Each morning Rex was back at home in a new hiding place.
This particular day he was balancing on top of a lamp.
We had read the story, Elf on a Shelf, and Abbie and Will knew the rules.
Rex's could lose his magical powers if he was touched.

Ben didn't touch him, but he gave Rex one wild ride.
He demonstrated the "ride" Rex took by shaking the lamp.
Luckily, no one touched Rex!
I think Abbie and Will's screaming was enough to send Ben into shock.
And me into near cardiac arrest.
I mean, really, their screams were horrid!
I was almost certain there was blood or broken bones to be found.

Once everyone calmed down Ben offered to get Rex.
More screams, but I had it under control.
Good thing I had previously added a rule to the Elf story;
If Rex HAD to be touched only an adult wearing gloves could touch him.
Out came the gloves, and back to the lamp Rex went.
Whew!
